Book Description
This book, published in 2019, is part of the K-Heritage series and covers Talchum, which was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2022.
Talchum, literally "mask dance," is the Korean form of masked theater that integrates singing, dancing, and dialoguing. As its name suggests, Korean masked theater, or talchum, possesses strong characteristics as a form of dancing or singing. In that the exchange of dialogues among characters and their way of behaving is a critical factor of the performance, however, it is also a form of theater.
