Book Description
This book, published in 2016, is part of the K-Heritage series and covers Jeju Haenyeo culture, which was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the same year.
Jeju haenyeo usually dive in the sea about 10 meters deep for about a minute without an oxygen supply device to collect seafood. Jeju Haenyeo culture has contributed to improving the status of women in the community, and collection technology and fishing management considering the ecological characteristics of seafood have increased eco-friendly sustainability.
