Book Description

Jultagi

Jultagi is a traditional Korean performing art where the Jul-gwangdae (tightrope walker) performs acrobatics, humor, and storytelling on a rope, accompanied by the Eorit-gwangdae (clown) and the lively music of the Samhyeon-yukgak (traditional ensemble). Designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 58 in 1976 and inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011, Jultagi embodies the wit and communal spirit of Korean traditional arts.
