Gaya Culture Route
The Gaya Tumuli are ancient burial mounds in seven regions
that showcase the history and interactions of ancient Gaya,
which developed based on Iron Age culture.
They were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023.
Gwandong Pungryu Era Route
The Eight Scenic Views of Kwandong in Gangwon-do boast the beautiful landscapes of the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range and the East Sea,
and are also the setting of "Gwandong Byeolgok" by Songgang Jeong Cheol, making this area the birthplace of Korea’s true-view landscape culture.
Here, where the elegance of ancient poets and scholars lingers, you can experience the national heritage of Gangwon-do.
Baekje Antiquity Route
Baekje embraced advanced culture through the Han River and developed a refined civilization,
but it disappeared into history in the year 660. The stone pagodas,
metal crafts, and other relics remaining in Gongju, Buyeo, and Iksan vividly reflect Baekje’s high level of cultural sophistication.
Korean Temple Monasteries (Sansa) Route
Korean Buddhism, which has continued since the Three Kingdoms period,
has been passed down through mountain temples as both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
UNESCO World Heritage sites like Tongdosa exemplify Buddhist rituals and syncretic beliefs,
and serve as treasure troves of our heritage.
Korean Confucian Academy Route
Seowon, the educational institutions of Joseon-era scholars,
served as centers for academic research and for honoring distinguished Confucian scholars.
As unique architectural structures embodying the spirit of Neo-Confucianism,
nine Seowon have been inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Prehistoric Landscape Route
Yeoncheon is the site where Acheulean hand axes were discovered and is a treasure trove of prehistoric cultural heritage.
Its stunning geological features, such as the columnar joints of the Hantan River,
are so remarkable that the area has been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Mythic Landscape Route
Jeju, steeped in the myth of Seolmundae Halmang,
is a unique island shaped by volcanic activity.
It is a triple crown UNESCO site in natural sciences,
and a living volcanic museum where Haenyeo culture and Yeongdeung Gut are recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Folk Music Route
The Namdo Sori-gil is the birthplace of Korea’s traditional music,
connecting North and South Jeolla Provinces.
It is a living heritage preserved by master performers through pansori and folk songs,
offering timeless value and a deep cultural connection.
Royalty Route
The Royal Route connecting Seoul, Suwon, and Hwaseong embraces royal heritage such as palaces
and royal tombs.
From the prehistoric era through the Joseon capital of Hanyang to the present day,
this area encapsulates the essence of Korean history.
The route vividly showcases the dignity of the royal family and key moments in our history.
Golden Era Route
Gyeongju, the thousand-year-old capital, is a treasure trove of Silla relics.
It is a place where the spirit of Silla still lives on, with artifacts unearthed from the ground.
Andong is the capital of Korean spiritual culture, blending Confucian scholar traditions with folk heritage.
Together, these two cities embody the history and spirit of Korea.
